MBSR and Our One Earth
Grounded Presence:
From Stress Reduction to Ecological Belonging
- Reflections on an Earth-Aware MBSR Course
Kate Ensor
Thursday, 17 September 2026
12noon–1pm US EDT; 6–7pm CEST; 9-10am PDT
Please join us as we welcome Kate Ensor, a BAMBA-registered mindfulness and compassion teacher, nature-based coach, and trained mindfulness-based supervisor based in Luxembourg, who teaches internationally. Kate holds a Masters in Mindfulness-Based Approaches from Bangor University, where her final teaching project and thesis - MBSR: Grounded Presence - explored what becomes possible when Earth-awareness is woven incrementally through the established MBSR curriculum.
This session is an invitation into that inquiry from the inside. Drawing on the Connection Continuum, the framework at the heart of her thesis, tracing the arc from self-regulation through relational connection to ecological belonging, Kate shares what this looked and felt like across an eight-week course: in the teaching room, in participants' own words, and in her own embodied experience as teacher. She reflects honestly on what worked, what stretched her, and what participants' responses revealed, all set within the context of the current research underpinning the approach and the moment we are all teaching into.
There will be time for shared mindfulness practice, and an invitation to reflect on how this lands in your own teaching context as we explore the following themes together:
Registration for our speakers is by donation, to support the important work of EcoAwareness. Suggested donation levels are: Sustaining $25, Supporter $50, Benefactor $100, Developing Economy/Nation $1.
